Working a season in Oregon
Oregon's seasonal calendar splits between the coast, the Cascades, and the high desert. Astoria and the north coast spike in summer with tourism, fishing, and cannery work. Hood River runs spring through fall on windsurfing, kiteboarding, and the orchards that ring the Columbia Gorge. Bend stays busy nearly year-round — winter at Mt. Bachelor, summer on the Deschutes — making it one of the more flexible bases in the state.
Joseph and the Wallowas anchor the eastern edge with guided horseback trips, lodge work, and ranch jobs from late spring into October. Oregon's wine country and craft cider scene also pulls harvest crews each fall, especially across the Willamette Valley and Hood River.
Most seasonal hiring here happens through small operators rather than big resorts, so applying early and showing up willing to do multiple jobs goes further than a polished resume.
