Working a season in Utah
Utah is one of the most park-dense states in the country, and the seasonal labor market reflects it. Springdale (Zion), Torrey (Capitol Reef), Bluff (Bears Ears / Monument Valley), and Kanab all run their busy seasons from spring through October, hiring everyone from front-desk staff to shuttle drivers to backcountry guides. Moab adds a second peak in spring with mountain biking and rafting.
Park City flips the calendar — winter is the heavy hiring season for the resort, with summer holding on through mountain biking, festivals, and conferences. If you can work two seasons in different regions, stacking a Park City winter with a Springdale or Moab spring is a well-trodden path.
Compared to other Mountain West states, Utah has more mid-priced housing in the gateway towns, but Park City and Moab during peak weeks are exceptions. Check listings well before you commit to a job.
